Orrido di Sant'Anna is a bathing area located on the Cannobino stream in the Piedmont region of Italy. The beach features a pebbly shoreline approximately 80 metres wide. The bathing zone is situated in the final stretch of a cycle and pedestrian path that runs from the lido park to the Orrido di Sant'Anna.

Water

River (Cannobino stream). Surface water flow. Area: 0.080 km². Altitude: 214 metres above sea level. The stream flows into Lake Maggiore.

Location

Cannobio, Verbano Cusio Ossola province, Piedmont region. The bathing area is on the left orographic side of the Cannobino stream.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: POOR. Based on 21 routine samples from 2020–2023. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 513.8 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 765.6 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci 90th percentile: 517.4 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 808.0 MPN/100 ml. A wastewater treatment plant is located approximately 200 metres to the south.

Risks

Intense precipitation can cause discharge of untreated sewage into the water body. Morphological alterations to the riparian and alluvial zone have been identified but are not expected to affect bathing water quality.
