Casa Bianca is a bathing beach located in Fermo, Marche region, characterized by gravel and sand with a gentle slope of approximately 3% both on the emerged and submerged portions. The beach is protected by artificial breakwaters and has a mean width of 30 meters. The distance between mean low-water and high-water marks is approximately 80 meters, with astronomical tidal ranges of 30–50 centimeters. The surrounding area consists of urban periphery with a railway line passing through.

Coastal bathing water (Mediterranean Sea). Beach area of 2.28057 hectares. Mean beach width of 30 meters. Mean slope of 3% for both emerged and submerged portions. Distance between mean low-water and high-water marks approximately 80 meters. Astronomical tidal range 30–50 centimeters.

Location

Fermo, Marche region, Civitanova–Porto San Giorgio area. The responsible authority is Comune di Fermo, Via Mazzini 4, 63023 Fermo.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Category E (poor quality). Wastewater treatment: The area is served by a combined public sewer system connected to a wastewater treatment plant located in San Michele, Lido di Fermo. The plant serves approximately 20,000 equivalent inhabitants in winter and 40,000 in summer, with a design capacity of 42,800 equivalent inhabitants. The plant is a biological treatment facility with activated sludge. In 2006–2007, the treatment plant showed good efficiency with COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters consistently compliant. Microbiological monitoring in 2008, 2009, and 2010 was compliant.

Risks

The Sombrero overflow structure is located 200 meters south of the Casa Bianca Via Riva del Pescatore station. Short-duration pollution events have been identified from accidental failures and overflow of the overflow structure. No anomalous situations have been recorded. No cyanobacterial proliferation has been reported. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation has been reported.
