Plage du Vicq is a beach located on the northeast coast of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy, France, midway between Cherbourg and Barfleur. The beach extends approximately 500 metres along the RD26 road, bordered by the marshes of Mare de Jourdan. The beach has a gentle slope with sandy substrate. Manual cleaning is performed three times per year by the community of communes.

Location

Cosqueville, Manche department (50), Basse-Normandie region, on the northeast coast of the Cotentin Peninsula between Cherbourg and Barfleur. Parking available near the beach.

Facilities

Parking available. No sanitary facilities present. No lifeguard post. Manual beach cleaning performed three times yearly.

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring conducted under European Directive 2006/7/CE. Faecal indicator germs monitored. Classification history available under previous Directive 76/160/CEE with simulations for new Directive 2006/7/CE classification.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified including coastal discharges, domestic wastewater from collective and non-collective sewage systems, rainwater runoff, agricultural activities, and mooring areas.
