The beach of Réthoville, located on the northeast coast of the Cotentin Peninsula in Manche department, extends approximately 800 metres along the edge of the Réthoville marshes. The main access point is situated facing the RD 226 road. The beach features a sandy foreshore with a medium slope and is bordered by dunes and rear-littoral marshes.

Water

Coastal bathing water body adjacent to the Réthoville and Vrasville marshes and the Néville marshes.

Location

Réthoville, Manche department (50), Basse-Normandie region. Main access is opposite the RD 226 road. The beach is located west of Néville Point and is surrounded by the coastal communes of Cosqueville and Néville-sur-Mer.

Facilities

No sanitary facilities. No lifeguard post. Beach maintenance conducted three times per year by the Saint-Pierre-Eglise Municipal Community and Association Astre. No specific disabled access or swimming surveillance by certified instructors noted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was assessed under Directive 76/160/CEE and simulated under Directive 2006/7/CEE. Monitoring included faecal contamination indicators and shellfish water quality control.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include domestic wastewater (collective and non-collective treatment), rainwater discharge, agricultural activities, and coastal discharges. Port and mooring zone activities present. Camping and mobile home areas noted as pollution sources.
