Lithuania Lake 1 - Excellent

Dusios ežero maudykla is a public bathing area located on Lake Dusia in the Lazdijų district of Lithuania. The beach features a natural sandy shoreline with a length of 300 metres. Water quality has met excellent classification standards from 2018 to 2024. The bathing area is situated within the protected Meteliai Regional Park and the Dusia hydrological reserve.

Water

Lake Dusia. Average water depth is 0.5 metres; maximum depth is 1.0 metre. The water body belongs to type 3 classification and has good ecological potential. Average annual discharge in the catchment is 10.8 cubic metres per second.

Outdoor toilet. Meteliai Regional Park visitor centre is located at the bathing area.

Water Quality

Water quality has been classified as excellent from 2018 to 2024, meeting all requirements of excellent quality standards. Phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations were not tested; water transparency was monitored. No investigations into cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or marine phytoplankton were conducted. No point source pollution or diffuse pollution sources exist in the impact zone.

Risks

Short-term pollution is possible during heavy rainfall; pollution disappears within 1–2 days after rainfall ends.
