Egå Strand is a bathing beach located north of Egå Marina in Aarhus Municipality. The beach has a width of 10 metres with sandy bottom conditions and some soft areas. Sandy bottom with patches of soft sediment. Beach width 10 metres. Water depth reaches 2 metres approximately 300 metres from shore. Predominantly weak northward current. Fast ferry operations may cause waves 50–75 cm above natural wave height.

Location

North of Egå Marina in Aarhus Municipality. Parking available at Egå Marina car park with good access from the marina. A well-maintained grass area is located behind the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent. Slightly elevated bacterial levels may occur after rainfall due to separate storm water outlets and surface runoff from roofs and roads, representing natural background contamination. Monitor bathing water alerts on badevand.dk.

Risks

Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) can occur during particular current conditions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) at the shoreline may harbour toxins and protect disease-causing bacteria from UV degradation, warranting avoidance of bathing near affected areas.
