Emmerbølle Strand is a 400-meter-long sandy beach located on the west coast of Langeland island facing Langelandssundet. The beach features fine sand with scattered small stones and is 20 meters wide. It offers two large bathing piers, one with a handicap-accessible ramp, rescue rings, parking, toilet facilities, and access to food services at the nearby camping site. The beach is situated in a scenic landscape.

Water

Brackish water in Langelandssundet. Water depth increases gradually from the shore, with depths under 2 meters extending approximately 150 meters from the coastline. Current direction is variable but primarily from the north.

Location

Emmerbølle Strand is located on Langeland's west coast at Langelandssundet near Emmerbølle Strand Camping. The beach is accessible via Emmelbøllevej, which leads to a large parking area adjacent to the beach.

Facilities

Two large bathing piers with one handicap-accessible ramp, rescue rings, parking area, toilet facilities, first aid kit, emergency telephone, waste bins, warning signs for reduced water quality, and access to food services at the camping site.

Water Quality

Water classified as Excellent quality. Classification is based on routine monitoring for indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted during the bathing season. The classification meets required threshold values and is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton blooms is low. Potential for macroalgae (seaweed) wash-up in the waterline, with regular removal during the bathing season. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur. Sudden contamination from events such as accidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines is possible. The Egeløkkeafløbet stream outlet is located 1.2 km north; overflow structures may release sewage during heavy rainfall, though overflow frequency is low.
