Dageløkke S

Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Dageløkke S is a 200-meter-long beach on the west coast of Langeland, located south of Dageløkke Harbour in Langelandssundet. The beach consists primarily of fine sand, with a stone mole at its northern end. Water depth increases relatively quickly offshore, reaching less than 2 meters at approximately 50 meters from the shore. The beach offers views of rolling landscape to the south and the restored Dageløkke Harbour to the north.

Water

Brackish water in Langelandssundet. The beach extends 5 to 50 meters in width and is 200 meters long. Water depth is less than 2 meters at 50 meters from the shore. Current direction is variable and primarily from the north.

Location

The beach is located on Langeland's west coast near Dageløkke village, south of Dageløkke Harbour and southwest of Dageløkke Holiday Centre. Access is via Dageløkkevej, which leads to a large car park at Dageløkke Harbour.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring for E. coli and enterococci bacteria conducted during the bathing season. The classification was calculated from samples taken regularly between 2007 and 2010 and is revised annually before the start of each bathing season.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Macroalgae (seaweed) washing ashore is possible. A sewage overflow structure located 1.5 kilometres south at Bøstrup has the potential to discharge backed-up wastewater, though overflow frequency is low. Sudden pollution from leisure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage pipes is possible. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
