Enø Strand is a 250-meter-long sandy beach located in Karrebæksminde Bay near Enø in Næstved Municipality, Denmark. The beach features fine sand and is 20–30 metres wide, with a seabed composed of fine sand, small to medium-sized stones, and occasional large stones. The beach is centrally positioned within natural surroundings and offers a range of facilities including toilets, rescue equipment, and parking. The water is classified as brackish.

Water

Brackish water in Karrebæksminde Bay. Water depth rises gradually from the shore, remaining under 2 metres 150 metres from the coast. Current direction is variable with no primary direction.

Location

The beach is located in Enø, near Enø Camping, along Karrebæksminde Bay. Access is via Enø Kystvej, with parking available opposite the beach. The nearest town is Næstved.

Facilities

Toilets with drinking water, lifeguard service (26 June – 19 August, 10:00–18:00), rescue equipment, parking, first aid kit, emergency telephone, blue flag status, disabled access facilities, waste bins.

Official monitoring season: 1 June – 1 September. Lifeguard service: 26 June – 19 August, 10:00–18:00.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2020 is Excellent, based on routine monitoring of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) during the bathing season. The classification was calculated using samples collected between 2016 and 2019. Water quality meets required standards.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Macroalgae (seaweed) may wash up on the beach; swimming near large accumulations is not recommended. Glass shards and litter may occasionally be present in the sand. Risk of chemical pollution such as oil spills is very low. Sudden pollution from accidents involving leisure boats or sewage lines is possible.
