Espinho - Rua 37 is an urban beach with light-colored sand and a walkway extending along the seafront. The beach allows walking along its entire length. It is located in the municipality of Espinho in the Douro river basin.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified according to Decreto-Lei 135/2009 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Monitoring frequency is weekly. Short-term pollution is unlikely but can occur during precipitation events due to microbiological load from the rainwater drainage network. Bathing was advised against or prohibited for 2 days during the 2024 bathing season due to short-term pollution events. Potential microbiological pollution sources include fecal contamination originating mainly from the local rainwater drainage network.

Risks

Fecal contamination from rainwater drainage network during precipitation events. Cyanobacteria proliferation potential is moderate with a history of bloom occurrence. Macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation potential is low with no history of occurrence.
