Færgegården is a 180-meter-long sandy beach in the northern part of Spodsbjerg on the east coast of Langeland, facing Langelandsbælt. The beach is 25 meters wide with fine sand, scattered small and medium-sized stones, and is backed by a stone dyke and coastal reinforcement. It is centrally located south of Spodsbjerg Harbour and the tourist boat harbour and east of Færgegården Camping. The water at the beach is classified as brackish.

Water

Brackish water body in Langelandsbælt. Water depth rises gradually from the shore, remaining under 2 meters at 150 meters from the coast. Current direction is primarily from the north.

Location

Located in Spodsbjerg in the northern part of the town on Langeland's east coast. Accessible via Spodsbjergvej with parking available at the harbour.

Lifeguard ring, toilet facilities, waste bin, parking, warning signs for degraded water quality.

Season

Routine water quality monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is reviewed annually in May before the start of the bathing season.

Water quality classified as Excellent. Classification based on routine monitoring of E. coli and enterococci bacteria during the bathing season. Classification meets quality standard requirements and is reviewed annually before the start of the bathing season.

Risks

Multiple potential sources of fecal pollution identified: Akkermoserenden stream outlet 1.5 km north with overflow risk from five overflow structures; Roløkke treatment plant 1.1 km north with emergency overflow capability; two overflow structures 150 meters and 250 meters south of the beach capable of releasing sewage during heavy rainfall. Drainage pump station at the nearby harbour with potential for high fecal bacteria concentrations. Risk of short-term pollution events from boat accidents, slurry tanks, or sewage line failures. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large macroalgae accumulation.
