Pharos Pervolion is a sandy beach with rocky substrate located in the Larnaca district of Cyprus. The beach is 1496 meters long with an average water depth of 0.6 meters and maximum depth of 2 meters. The beach features a sand tongue formation in front of a breakwater and is backed by vacation homes, recreational facilities, and natural scrubland vegetation. The area has been awarded Blue Flag status and is managed as a public beach by the Pervolion Community Council.

Water

Coastal water body named Larnaca West (CY_19-C2), situated within the Cyprus watershed basin. The seabed is sandy with some small pebbles. Rocky substrate formations are present in deeper areas towards the open sea. Average water depth is 0.6 meters, maximum depth is 2 meters. Beach length is 1496 meters.

Location

Located in the Pervolion Community, Larnaca District, Cyprus. Coordinates: 33.6045°E, 34.8217°N. Parking and facilities are available. The monitoring point is positioned at the highest concentration of swimmers.

Facilities

Blue Flag beach. Toilets available. Umbrellas and sunbeds offered. Waste collection bins present. Lifeguard services with lifesaving equipment provided from 11:00 to 17:30. Water sports services available at the breakwater in the northern section. Beach cleaning is the responsibility of the Pervolion Community Council.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The bathing water is not directly associated with internal surface water bodies. The coastal body to which it belongs is in good ecological condition. Monitoring under Directive 76/160/EEC commenced in 2004 when Cyprus joined the European Union. Low risk of eutrophication from macroalgae and phytoplankton development.

Risks

Low probability of macroalgae and phytoplankton development. Negligible risk of short-term pollution. No short-term pollution incidents recorded during swimming seasons 2008–2010. Possible short-term pollution sources include rainwater runoff, occurring approximately once per swimming season with duration of 1–2 days.
