Water

Bathing area in Lillebælt/Åkrog Bay in the western Baltic Sea. The beach is approximately 430 meters long and 20 meters wide. The seabed and shoreline consist primarily of sand. Water depth at the monitoring station is approximately 1 meter. Larger waves can occur due to exposure to Lillebælt, though wave size depends on wind direction and strength. Water composition is influenced by both low-salinity Baltic Sea water and higher-salinity Lillebælt water, with salt content varying according to current direction.

Location

Feddet is situated in Lillebælt/Åkrog Bay, approximately 4000 meters south of Ebberup. Parking is available approximately 125 meters from the beach. A public toilet is located at the parking area.

Season

Bathing season: 1 June to 1 September. Water quality monitoring is conducted during this period.

Water Quality

Water classification: Excellent. Classification is based on bathing water data from the preceding four years. Monitoring is conducted during the bathing season (1 June to 1 September) with a minimum of four water samples collected throughout the season. Results are published on the municipality website.

Risks

Possible sources of fecal pollution include Aa Å watercourse approximately 1250 meters north of Feddet, with nine stormwater outlets from Dreslette and Snave in the Damrenden tributary system. Fecal pollution could originate from cattle with access to watercourses, agricultural practices, or heavy rainfall events. Bathing animals, humans, and bird populations may contribute minor fecal bacteria concentrations. Risk of cyanobacteria blooms exists, particularly during summer periods with high pressure over the Baltic Sea and eastward currents from the Baltic. Cyanobacteria blooms typically occur after rainfall periods with nutrient leaching followed by warm conditions. No previous observations of other phytoplankton blooms or significant seaweed accumulations have been recorded. The municipality has no knowledge of chemical contamination risks from old dumpsites or industrial discharge permits in the area.
