Fejø, Sletteren is a 250-meter-long family-friendly beach located in an undisturbed natural area on Femø Sound in Smålandsfarvandet. The beach consists of fine sand with small stones scattered evenly across it, with a backing of green areas providing scenic views over the strait. The beach is 10–15 meters wide and marked by a blue line. Water depth increases gradually from the shore and remains under 2 meters at 150 meters offshore.

Water

Smålandsfarvandet, classified as brackish water. Current direction is variable, primarily from southeast and south. Water depth is under 2 meters at 150 meters from the shore. The seabed consists of fine sand with scattered small stones.

Location

The beach is reached via Slettervej, which ends at a parking area close to the beach. Toilet facilities are available in summer.

Parking area, toilet facilities (summer season), bins, first aid kit, life ring, warning signs for degraded water quality, and blue flag.

Season

Routine monitoring is conducted during the bathing season. The beach's classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Water Quality

The bathing water at Fejø, Sletteren was classified as Excellent quality in 2022, based on routine monitoring samples taken during the bathing season 2018–2021. Samples are analysed for indicator bacteria E. coli and enterococci. The municipality has no knowledge of sources of faecal pollution that pose a risk to water quality at this location.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton blooms. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) washup at the water's edge. Glass shards and litter may occur. Risk of chemical contamination such as oil spills is very low. Sudden pollution may occur from incidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewer lines.
