Foz do Lizandro is a long sandy beach located at the mouth of Rio Lizandro in Mafra. The beach extends considerably along the right bank of the river and offers good support infrastructure with several bars and restaurants for swimmers.

Located in Mafra municipality at coordinates LAT 38.94044°, LONG -9.41426° (ETRS89). The bathing water is situated at the mouth of Rio Lizandro.

12 June to 12 September (2021 bathing season).

Water Quality

Water quality classification from 2020 (Decreto-Lei 135/09, amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Sampling is conducted triweekly. One day of bathing advisories or prohibitions occurred during the 2020 bathing season due to short-term pollution events.

Risks

Short-term pollution events may occur, typically lasting 1–2 days, caused by river discharge increase after rainfall events or sewerage network failures. Potential microbiological pollution sources include sewerage network accidents, illegal discharges in the watershed, and inadequate sewerage treatment during intense rainfall. The potential for cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely.
