Fuglsang is a fine, broad sandy beach located on the northeast coast of Funen facing the Kattegat. The beach is 500 metres long and 15-20 metres wide, with a seabed of fine sand and some medium-sized stones near the water's edge. The area features a large green recreational zone bordered by an oak forest, creating a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. The beach is classified as excellent quality for bathing water based on monitoring data from 2012-2015.

Water

The water in Kattegat at the beach is classified as brackish water. The water depth is less than 2 metres 150 metres from the coast. Current direction is variable with no primary direction. The area around the beach is shallow with water level rising gradually from the coastline.

Location

The beach is located on Funen's northeast coast in Nordfyns Kommune. Access is via Fuglsangsvej, which leads directly to the green recreational area. Parking is available at the green area near the beach.

Toilets, showers, bins, tables and benches, grill, drinking water, lifeguard post, blue flag, rescue ring, information signage, and parking.

Season

1 June to 1 September (routine monitoring period).

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as excellent quality (2016 classification based on monitoring data from 2012-2015). Routine water samples are taken during the bathing season and analysed for E.coli and enterococci bacteria. Within the defined beach boundaries, the water achieves the best possible classification. A stormwater outlet/drainage ditch located just east of the beach boundary may contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria during rainy weather but has no influence on water quality within the monitored beach area.

Low risk of large seaweed accumulation at the water's edge. Low risk of chemical pollution. Glass shards and litter may occasionally occur. Sudden pollution from accidents involving pleasure boats, manure tanks, or sewage pipes is possible.
