Fynshoved Camping is a bathing beach located on the northern part of Hindsholm facing Storebælt. The 500-metre-long beach is composed of fine sand with scattered collections of large and medium stones, with stone breakwaters erected across it. The beach is situated in a naturally beautiful area with Fyns Hoved to the north and Nordskov Strandenge to the south. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality based on routine monitoring of indicator bacteria.

Water

Saltwater body in Storebælt. The beach is 500 metres long and 10–20 metres wide. Water depth increases gradually offshore, reaching approximately 1 metre at 200 metres from the coast. Current direction is variable.

Location

Located on the northern part of Hindsholm in the Kerteminde Municipality area, facing Storebælt. Fynshoved Camping is situated to the west of the beach, with a larger holiday home area to the north.

Season

Bathing season; routine monitoring and quality classification updates occur annually before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Monitoring is conducted routinely during the bathing season by Kerteminde Kommune, testing for indicator bacteria E. coli and enterococci. Classification is updated annually and is based on samples from the preceding four bathing seasons. The Nordskov Strandenge stream discharges south of the beach and may contain faecal bacteria during periods of rainfall, but has low influence on water quality within the defined bathing area.

Risks

The Nordskov Strandenge stream outlet south of the beach may contain faecal bacteria during rainfall and bathing is advised against in and around this outlet. Risk of algal bloom (cyanobacteria and phytoplankton) is low. Risk of macroalgae washup is low. Sudden pollution may occur from ship incidents, slurry tanks, and sewage lines. Waste, glass, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
