Haraldsted Langesø is a freshwater lake in Ringsted Municipality with two designated bathing areas. One beach is located at the former Traktørsted on Haraldstedvej 130 near Valsømagle village, featuring a wooden bathing pier and stony shore. The second bathing area is at the western dam near Søsportshjørnet. The lake has a natural bottom with firm sediment and stones, with weak eastward water flow.

Water

Haraldsted Langesø is a freshwater lake with a natural bottom of firm sediment and stones. Water depth is less than 1 meter within the first 3 meters from shore, 1–2 meters for the next 2 meters, then increases rapidly to 5–6 meters. The lake has weak eastward water flow.

Location

Haraldsted Langesø is located near Valsømagle village in Ringsted Municipality. One bathing area is at Traktørstedet on Haraldstedvej 130, with parking available approximately 100 meters from the bathing pier. The second bathing area is at the western dam near Søsportshjørnet.

Facilities

Bathing piers are available at both bathing areas. Information boards are installed at both bathing areas. Parking is available at Traktørstedet. Rubbish bins are provided at Traktørstedet.

Water Quality

Haraldsted Langesø is classified as Excellent quality. The 95-percentile for intestinal enterococci is 127 cfu/100 ml and for Escherichia coli is 38 cfu/100 ml. No registered sources of faecal pollution have been identified that would have a dominant influence on water quality. No short-term pollution incidents have been recorded.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) bloom is very low at the beginning of the bathing season but increases through the season until August, when blooms typically occur most years. Phosphorus levels in water and sediment are expected to contribute to this risk. Prolonged periods of warm, calm weather increase the risk of algal blooms. Glass fragments and litter occasionally occur at the beach.
