Hestehovedet is a family-friendly artificial beach in Nakskov, Denmark, 165 meters long and 20–30 meters wide, composed of fine sand with an equally sandy seabed. The beach features Denmark's longest bathing pier with accessible walkways for wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties. The surrounding area includes green recreational spaces, a restaurant, a leisure boat harbor, and a campsite.

Water

Brackish water in the Nakskov Fjord. Water depth increases gradually offshore and remains under 2 meters at 600 meters from the shore. Current direction is variable with no dominant current.

Location

Located near Nakskov on the Nakskov Fjord. Access is via Strandpromenaden, which ends at a parking lot with toilet and disabled facilities. A green recreational area and restaurant are situated at the parking area.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton blooms, typically occurring during prolonged warm weather with nutrient-rich water. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) washup at the water's edge. Glass shards and litter can occur. Very low risk of chemical pollution such as oil spills. Sudden contamination from leisure boat accidents, slurry tanks, or sewer pipes is possible. No identified permanent sources of fecal pollution affecting the beach.
