Høfte Q Fjaltring

Høfde Q is a fine sand beach in Fjaltring, Denmark, stretching 250 metres in length and up to 60 metres in width. The beach faces the North Sea approximately 1 kilometre west of Fjaltring, featuring characteristic high dunes and white sand. The seafloor consists of fine sand with scattered small stones. An asphalt path runs along the dyke, providing easy access to the beach.

Water

Saltwater body in the North Sea. Water depth increases steeply offshore and varies considerably due to tidal and current changes. Current direction is primarily from north or south.

Location

Located west of Fjaltring in Lemvig Municipality, Denmark, approximately 1 kilometre from the town. Access via Kjeldbjergvej leads to the beach parking area, which includes associated toilet facilities.

Facilities

Parking area, toilet facilities with drinking water, lifeguard station, emergency signal warning system for reduced water quality, blue flag status, disabled access facilities, waste bins, and rescue ring.

Season

Routine water quality monitoring is conducted during the bathing season. Beach classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (Udmærket kvalitet) as of 2023, based on routine monitoring samples from 2020–2023 testing for E. coli and Enterococci indicator bacteria. The water meets required standards and is suitable for bathing.

Risks

Risk of rip currents (revlehuller) due to sudden depth changes and variable water conditions caused by tides, currents, and weather. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of macroalgae washing ashore in large quantities. Occasional glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur. The Dybå watercourse outlet 700 metres north of the beach may periodically contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria; swimmers are advised to bathe only within the defined beach section.
