Trans Ferieby is a bathing beach in Denmark located along the North Sea coast, stretching 4,800 meters from Ferring in the north to Trans and Fjaltring Ferieby in the south. The beach is characterized by fine sand, stands 70 to 100 meters wide, and is set in the distinctive North Sea environment with high dunes and white sandy beach. The seafloor consists of fine sand with small stones scattered evenly across the bottom.

Water

Saltwater in the North Sea. The beach is 4,800 meters long and 70 to 100 meters wide. Water depth rises steeply and is highly variable due to tidal activity and changes in current and weather conditions. Current direction is predominantly from north or south.

Location

Trans Ferieby, Denmark. The beach is administered by Lemvig Kommune (Rådhusgade 2, 7620 Lemvig). Parking is available at the beach.

Warning sign for reduced bathing water quality, control point, trash bins, parking, lifeguards (implied by warning sign system).

Season

Monitoring occurs during the official bathing season. Classification is revised annually in May before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2022). Classification is based on routine sampling from 2019–2022 measuring E. coli and Enterococcus bacteria as faecal indicator organisms. The beach meets required quality standards. Monitoring occurs regularly during the bathing season.

Risks

Risk of rip currents (revlehuller) is present due to wave patterns breaking over ridges. Swimmers should not fight the current but allow themselves to drift with it for a few meters before swimming sideways to shore. Water depth is variable and unpredictable. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Risk of large quantities of macroalgae washing ashore is low. The Dybå stream, located 1.2 km south, carries risk of elevated faecal bacteria concentrations at its outlet and bathing is discouraged there. Glass, debris, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
