Højstrup Strand

Højstrup Strand is a bathing beach located on the north coast of Zealand, extending approximately 160 metres in length with a width of 25–40 metres. The beach features a stony sand composition backed by a grassy area. Water quality is classified as Excellent based on measurements from the four most recent seasons. The beach experiences extended reef formation in two areas and carries a risk of high waves.

Water

The bathing water is a brackish water body with salinity levels of 1.8–2.3%. The seabed is sandy. Two metres depth occurs approximately 240 metres from the shore. The dominant current direction flows from west to east. Extended reef formation is present in two areas.

Location

Højstrup Strand is situated at Nordre Strandvej between numbers 54B and 56. Public transport access is available via bus 342 and the local train to Højstrup Station. No parking spaces are available at the beach.

Tables and benches. Bus stop nearby. No bathing platform. No lifeguards. No disabled access facilities. No parking spaces.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent, based on results from the four most recent seasons. Five samples were taken in 2024 at monitoring station number 291. No known pollution sources have been identified. The water discharge visible on the beach consists only of rainwater. Blue-green algae blooms occur never or rarely. Macroalgae and phytoplankton blooms occur never or rarely.
