Grønnehave Strand is a 400-metre-long beach near Helsingør with a sand and stone composition backed by dune areas. The water quality is rated Excellent based on measurements from the four most recent seasons. The beach has a sandy bottom with varying depths and brackish water conditions.

Water

Brackish water body (salinity 1.8–2.3%) with a sandy bottom. Water depth reaches approximately 2 metres at 40–200 metres from shore, deepest along the pier. Beach dimensions are approximately 400 metres long and 60–200 metres wide.

Location

Located at Strandalleen in Helsingør (3000). The nearest parking is at Helsingør Harbour. Public transport includes the local train to Grønnehave or Marienlyst and Bus 342.

Facilities

Lifeguards present 22 June–4 August, 10:00–18:00. First aid equipment available during season (10:00–18:00). Showers during season (10:00–18:00). Disabled access includes paved path from parking to beach, disabled parking, disabled toilet during season (10:00–18:00), and beach wheelchair available from lifeguards. Toilets and beach cabins at the adjoining campsite. Kiosk. Beach volleyball court and playground. Fire pit. Litter bins and waste separation. Dogs are not allowed 1 June–15 September.

Season

Lifeguards are on duty 22 June–4 August, 10:00–18:00. Monitoring and facilities operate during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent based on 10 samples taken in 2024 and measurements from the four most recent seasons. Blue Flag beach designation. Station number 294.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms can occur rarely under specific current conditions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Seaweed (kelp) beds are present further out and seaweed often washes onto the beach. Sewage overflows are possible during heavy rain, causing short-term water contamination lasting up to 2 days; however, no overflows have occurred in the past 20 years. Low risk of rip currents but some current along the pier. No risk of high waves or riptides.
