Kisserup Strand

Kisserup Strand is not a traditional beach but a 175-meter bathing pier with benches and storage boxes at the end. The seabed is sandy with depths of approximately 0.75 meters at 10 meters from the pier and 2 meters at 500 meters from the pier. A large grass area with tables, benches, waste bins, and an information board surrounds the bathing area. Dogs must be kept on a leash.

Water

Bathing pier of 175 meters length. Water depth approximately 0.75 meters at 10 meters from the pier and 2 meters at 500 meters distance. Water type is brackish under normal conditions. Current direction varies but commonly comes from the west or east.

Location

Kisserup Strand is accessed via Fjordengen. There is no parking available at the beach or between the summer house plots.

Facilities

Benches and storage boxes at the end of the bathing pier. Grass area with tables, benches, waste bins, and information board. No lifeguards, toilets, showers, or disabled access mentioned.

Season

Control samples are taken during the bathing season. Minimum four inspections per year are conducted during sampling.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT (based on data from 2020–2023). Water is monitored during the bathing season for faecal contamination using E. coli and enterococci as indicator bacteria. Potential pollution sources include overflow structures approximately 100 meters southwest of the bathing station and multiple storm water outlets in the area.

Risks

Overflow structures can discharge diluted sewage during heavy rainfall. Storm water outlets may contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria during heavy rain. Possible sudden contamination from boat accidents, manure tanks, sewage pipes, and heavy rainfall. Risk of cyanobacteria is low. Swimmers are advised not to bathe if water is unclear and feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Caution recommended regarding algae washed ashore. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
