Egenæsvej is a bathing location at Egenæs in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark, featuring a wooden bathing bridge approximately 55 metres long instead of a traditional beach. The water is brackish, containing a mixture of salt and fresh water. The bathing area has been classified as excellent quality based on data from 2017–2020. The location is situated in a nature-protected area surrounded by summer houses and agricultural land.

Water

Brackish water (mixture of salt and fresh water). Water depth exceeds 1 metre at the sampling point at the end of the bridge. Approximately 700 metres from shore, the water reaches 2 metres depth. Current direction is variable, most frequently from north or south.

Location

Located at Egenæs, accessed via Tornagervej, opposite Tornager 36. A pathway at number 38 leads to the water, with the bathing bridge situated approximately 40 metres south of the pathway. A bench is available at the site. No parking facilities are present.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality under Danish regulations (BEK 917) based on 2017–2020 data. The bathing area is occasionally affected by wastewater pollution. In 2016, a 14-day pollution event occurred at the end of the season, resulting in a swimming advisory notice. A registered drainage outlet approximately 150 metres south of the bathing bridge has unknown water quality and is considered a potential pollution source. Monitoring occurs minimum 4 times per year.

Risks

Registered drainage outlet approximately 150 metres south with unknown water quality. Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton growth is low. Risk of macroalgae growth is moderate. Occasional occurrences of glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills. Swimming is not recommended if water clarity is poor and feet are not visible at knee depth. Contact with washed-up algae on the shore is not recommended due to potential toxin formation and bacterial survival.
