To-Bjerg is a bathing area in Holbæk Kommune, Denmark, comprising a grass area with tables, benches, and waste bins rather than a traditional sandy beach. A bathing pier with a rescue ring and a central platform approximately 0.75 metres deep provides access to the water. The seabed consists of sand and gravel with large stones, with depths reaching 2 metres approximately 150 metres from shore.

Water

Brackish water under normal conditions. Water currents vary but typically come from the southwest or west direction. Seabed composition is sand and gravel with large stones.

Location

To-Bjerg is accessed by driving to the end of To-Bjerg and continuing on a gravel road where parking is available. The area is surrounded by protected beach meadows, with summer houses and agricultural land behind.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent based on data from 2020-2023. Monitoring for E. coli and enterococci bacteria is conducted during the bathing season. Pollution sources include the Kisserup Sdr. watercourse outlet approximately 500 metres east and the Kisserup Ndr. watercourse outlet approximately 1000 metres east, which may contain wastewater from properties with faulty drainage connections.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae), macroalgae, and phytoplankton growth is low. Sudden algal blooms may occur after prolonged periods of warm, nutrient-rich water and are visible as water discoloration. Swimmers should avoid bathing if water clarity is poor and the feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur.
