Klinten in Jyllinge is a bathing beach located on Roskilde Fjord in Denmark, featuring fine sand and measuring 100 meters long and 5–10 meters wide. The beach is bordered by stone breakwaters and backed by a recreational green area. Water depth increases gradually, remaining below 2 meters within 100 meters of the shore. The beach is classified as excellent quality based on regular monitoring of fecal indicator bacteria from 2016–2019.

Water

Roskilde Fjord with brackish water classification. The beach is 100 meters long and 5–10 meters wide. Water depth is under 2 meters at 100 meters from shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the southeast.

Location

The beach is located in Jyllinge on Roskilde Fjord. Access is available via Kildestræde descending to the beach or from the north via a path from Parkstræde. A recreational green area lies behind the beach.

Trash bin, rescue ring buoy, warning sign for deteriorated water quality.

Season

Routine water quality monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent quality, meeting statutory requirements. Classification is based on routine monitoring samples analysed for E. coli and enterococci from 2016–2019. Five stormwater outlets are located near the beach, with one south and four north of the beach. Jyllinge Treatment Plant is located 700 meters north and discharges treated wastewater into the fjord. Risk of cyanobacteria blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low.

Risks

Five stormwater outlets pose risk of elevated fecal bacteria concentrations during heavy rainfall. Treated wastewater discharge from Jyllinge Treatment Plant is located 700 meters north. Emergency overflow from the treatment plant can discharge via stormwater line JY6 located 550 meters north. Seaweed (macroalgae) can accumulate in the water's edge. Glass shards and litter may be present. Risk of chemical pollution is very low.
