Sønderby Strand is a small sandy beach located at the end of Harebakkevej with a green recreational area adjacent to the shore. The water is brackish with salinity between 1 and 2 percent. The seabed consists of some stones and soft bottom. Current direction follows wind direction.

Location

At the end of Harebakkevej. Parking available approximately 200 metres from the beach.

Facilities

Bathing platform available. Parking available. No lifeguard. No toilets. No disabled facilities. Environmental station with tables and benches at the beach. Tables and benches on the green area between parking and beach. Dogs allowed on leash during summer season (April to October); dogs may be loose if under control during winter season (October to March).

Season

Monitored from April to October (summer season). Winter season extends from October to March.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Monitored at station 138 with 4 samples per bathing season. During heavy rainfall, some impact from wastewater may occur, with pollution duration lasting up to 3 days depending on the size of the rainfall and current and wind conditions. The catchment area includes summer house areas and agricultural land.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria bloom, occurring rarely during several days of calm warm weather. Low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton bloom, though seaweed may occasionally appear.
