Claire-Fontaine Lake is a bathing water zone designated officially on 25 October 1990, located at an altitude of 140 meters in the Sambre hydrographic sub-basin. The lake has a beach length of 100 meters and a surface area of 57,295 square meters. The lake bottom is relatively homogeneous, characterized by silt, with a grassed bank and concrete access facilitating water entry. The bathing zone has experienced substantial quality improvement since 1995, though it presents occasional punctual contamination problems with several exceedances of standards per year.
