Lake Neufchâteau is a designated bathing water zone located in the Semois-Chiers hydrographic sub-basin at an altitude of 425 metres. The lake covers 4.14 hectares with a beach length of 57 metres and water depths ranging from 0.20 to 3 metres. The lake bed is homogeneous, composed of sand and silt. The bathing zone has experienced recurring contamination problems and has been closed for many years, meeting compliance standards only twice in the past 20 years (in 2005 and 2008).
