Lido Comunale Belgirate is an artificial grassy beach with public access located on Lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region of Italy. The beach spans 103 meters in width and is classified as excellent quality based on routine monitoring samples collected between 2021 and 2024. Animal access is prohibited. The bathing water is regularly serviced by sewage collection systems with a treatment plant located within 3 kilometres of the monitoring point.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent. Based on 20 routine samples collected during 2021–2024. Escherichia coli: 90th percentile 49.2 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 83.6 MPN/100 ml. Enterococcci: 90th percentile 103.6 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 175.5 MPN/100 ml. The bathing area falls within the homogeneous zone Maggiore 12, which has high pressure classification due to high density of sewage pipes. Rio Valdera in the vicinity may influence water quality. Scattered houses upstream may not be connected to the sewage network.

Risks

Intense precipitation can trigger overflow structures. Accidental failures of pumping systems may introduce untreated sewage into the lake. Inadequate management of the sewage network is a possible pollution source.
