Lido di Classe is a sandy beach bathing area located 100 m north of the mouth of the Savio River in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna. The beach extends 250 m north of the northern pier of the Savio estuary to the base of the northern pier. The area has medium bather usage and is classified as excellent water quality based on 2015–2018 monitoring data. The beach is 100 m wide and in equilibrium with no significant erosion.

Coastal marine water, flat alluvial zone with high stability. Area extends 0.243 km. The Savio River estuary is located south of the bathing area.

Location

Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna province. The bathing area is located 100 m north of the mouth of the Savio River. A beach establishment provides facilities and services.

Facilities

One beach establishment with first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled persons, hot showers, no architectural barriers, sports facilities, and refreshment stands.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 25 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile: 32 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci 90th percentile: 53 CFU/100 ml, 95th percentile: 77 CFU/100 ml. No direct discharges or watercourses empty into the bathing water. No sewage treatment pollution sources identified in the bathing area.

Risks

The Savio River estuary located south of the area may cause eutrophication during heavy rainfall. Ulva macroalgae blooms occurred in July–August 2018 in the northern central coastal section. No cyanobacterial eutrophication events recorded. No phytoplankton toxicity events recorded.
