Lido di Classe is a coastal bathing area located 4 kilometres south of Foce Bevano in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna. The area features sandy zones designated for bathing with sparse residential development inland. The beach spans 170 metres in width and is in equilibrium or accumulating with slight advancement of the shoreline. Sixteen bathing establishments operate in the area, providing first aid services and facilities for swimmers.

Water

Coastal marine water in a flat alluvial area with high stability. Area extension: 1.611 km. No rivers discharge into the bathing water profile, and there are no direct sea discharges.

Location

Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna province, 4 kilometres south of Foce Bevano. Coordinates: 12.3392°E, 44.3302°N.

Facilities

First aid services, toilets suitable for disabled access, hot showers, absence of architectural barriers, sports facilities, food and beverage services. Animal access is regulated by regional and municipal bathing ordinances.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 16 CFU/100 ml; Escherichia coli (95th percentile): 17 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 16 CFU/100 ml; intestinal enterococci (95th percentile): 17 CFU/100 ml. No short-duration pollution events were recorded during bathing seasons 2015–2018. No anomalous situations occurred during 2015–2018 bathing seasons.

Risks

Macroalgae proliferation (genus Ulva) occurred in July–August 2018 in the central-northern coastal stretch, causing modifications to bathing zone use during biomass accumulation phases. No toxic phytoplankton blooms were recorded. No cyanobacterial eutrophic phenomena have been reported.
