Livø Strand is a bathing beach approximately 500 metres long located north of Livø Harbour in Denmark. The beach is relatively narrow, measuring 15–20 metres wide, and consists of sand and small stones that extend into the water. The seabed slopes gradually and gently outward. The beach is classified as excellent bathing water based on analysis results from the preceding four years.

Water

Marine bathing water. The beach extends approximately 500 metres along the coast. The seabed has a width of 15–20 metres and slopes gradually outward. Water movement is normally minimal and typically follows wind direction.

Location

Livø Strand is located approximately 500 metres north of Livø Harbour and immediately east of the town of Livø. The area between the town and the beach comprises natural areas consisting mainly of open grassland with scattered bushes. Parking is available on site.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as excellent quality. Analysis of E. coli measurements over the preceding ten years shows a very stable situation, with only one measurement in 2005 that did not demonstrate satisfactory quality. No known sources of faecal pollution have been identified.

Risks

Blooms of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) are not known to occur in recent times. Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) occur rarely, though seaweed may wash up on the beach occasionally. If large quantities of seaweed accumulate at the water's edge, bathing is discouraged.
