Rønbjerg Strand

Rønbjerg Strand is a beach approximately 500 metres long and 20–25 metres wide located immediately north of Rønbjerg ferry and marina in Vesthimmerland Municipality, Denmark. The beach consists mainly of sand with narrow strips of small stones. Water quality has been consistently good over many years, and the beach has been designated as one of the municipality's four White Flag beaches. The beach receives cleaning one to two times per season to remove washed-up seaweed and other debris.

Water

Sandy beach approximately 500 metres long and 20–25 metres wide. The seabed consists mainly of sand with a strip of small stones at the water's edge. The bottom slopes gradually outward, reaching one metre depth approximately 50 metres from the shore.

Location

The beach is located immediately north of Rønbjerg ferry and marina. Access is from Rønbjergvej with directional signage. A large information board, toilets and facilities are located at the welfare building on the harbour. Parking is available at the P-plads near the beach.

Water Quality

Bathing water quality is classified as excellent based on analysis results from the preceding four years. Water is normally very clean. Only two measurements within the last ten years showed slight exceedances of E. coli levels, both occurring during severe storms. No immediate pollution risks are identified.

Risks

Seaweed occasionally washes onto the beach and can accumulate in larger quantities. Swimming is not recommended in areas with large amounts of macroalgae due to potential toxin formation in decomposing seaweed and protection of disease-causing bacteria from UV radiation. No known recent cyanobacterial blooms. Risk of phytoplankton growth is very low. No sewage or overflow pipelines in the immediate vicinity. Normal water currents are minimal and generally follow wind direction.
