Loddenhøj is a bathing beach located on the northern side of Løjt Land in Denmark, approximately 130 metres long and 15 metres wide. The beach consists of sand with small stones at the water's edge, with sections cleared for easy access. Water depth remains under 5 metres within approximately 125 metres from the shore. The beach is associated with Loddenhøj Camping and is classified as excellent quality for bathing water.

Water

Coastal bathing area with a beach approximately 130 metres long and 15 metres wide. Water depth is under 5 metres within approximately 125 metres from the shoreline. Bottom composition is sand with small stones at the water's edge.

Location

The beach is situated on the northern side of Løjt Land in Aabenraa Municipality, Denmark, adjacent to Loddenhøj Camping. A parking area is available at the beach. A ramp provides vehicle access to the water's edge.

Facilities

Lifeguard post, first aid post, information signage and warning board, picnic tables, benches, waste bins, fire pit, playground equipment, toilets and telephone at the kiosk, disabled access ramp to the water's edge. The beach is a Blue Flag beach.

Season

The official bathing season is 1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

The bathing water at Loddenhøj is classified as excellent quality. This classification is based on control samples collected regularly during 2019–2022 and is revised annually before the bathing season begins. Ten control samples are collected during the bathing season, with results published on the municipality's website.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms may occur, typically following periods of heavy rainfall with nutrient runoff followed by warm weather. Large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) can accumulate at the beach edge and near the small boat harbour. Møllebækken stream discharges at the northern part of the bathing area. Risk of pollution is highest during heavy wind and rainfall, when individual unsewered properties in the hinterland may discharge wastewater to the stream; such contamination typically lasts a maximum of three days. Glass, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur.
