Løgstør Friluftsbad

Løgstør friluftsbad is a sandy beach approximately 250 metres long located at the beginning of Frederik VII Canal in Løgstør town. The beach is equipped with a bathing pier extending about 50 metres into the water and a 60-metre wave breaker positioned about 40 metres offshore. The beach faces northwest and is situated immediately west of the old town centre and harbour areas. Water quality has been consistently good over many years.

Water

Sandy beach with few small stones and shells. Approximately 250 metres long. Bathing pier extends approximately 50 metres into the water. Wave breaker is 60 metres long, positioned approximately 40 metres offshore. Water current is typically weak, usually flowing eastward.

Location

Løgstør town (population approximately 4,500), located at the beginning of Frederik VII Canal. The beach is accessed from a car park via a bridge over the canal. A toilet building with information board is situated at the beach, along with tables, benches, and a grilling area.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as good based on analysis results from the four preceding years. The beach has consistently been one of the municipality's four White Flag beaches. No direct nearby sources of faecal pollution exist as there are no overflow structures on sewage pipes in Løgstør town. The treatment facility is located approximately 1,700 metres east of the beach.

Risks

Macroalgae (seaweed) may wash ashore and is removed as needed, at minimum once yearly. When large amounts of macroalgae are present at the water's edge, bathing in that area is advised against due to potential toxin formation in decomposing seaweed and protection of disease-causing bacteria from UV rays. No history of cyanobacteria blooms in recent times. Risk of phytoplankton growth is very low. Rainwater outlets to the canal exist behind the beach. No sewage discharge outlets to the beach or canal.
