Loures is an extensive beach located between Vouppe and Agia Varvara beaches in the Lemesos district of Cyprus. The western section features a small sandy beach bounded by two stabilization breakwaters constructed from natural boulders, while the remainder is rocky. A seafront promenade connects neighboring beaches, and the area is vegetated primarily with eucalyptus trees. Recreation and dining facilities are available landward of the sandy section.

Water

Coastal bathing water body named Lemesos Anatolika. Beach length: 1,250 meters. Average water depth: 1.5 meters. Maximum water depth: 3 meters. Semi-natural shoreline with beach rocks parallel to the eastern section and a parallel breakwave structure 170 meters from shore on the western section.

Location

Located in the Community of Agio Tychona, Lemesos district, Cyprus. Coordinates: 33.1349°E, 34.7088°N (ETRS89).

Facilities

Lifeguards and lifeguard equipment available from 10:00 to 17:00 during summer. Toilets available through dining facilities in the coastal zone. Waste collection bins along the entire beach maintained by the Community Council of Agio Tychona. Summer services include sun loungers and umbrellas. The beach holds Blue Flag status. Maximum daily bathers: 150 persons.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data since Cyprus's EU accession in 2004. The coastal water body is in good ecological condition. Monitoring has been conducted for many years.

Risks

Moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development based on pollution sources. Potential short-term pollution sources include storm runoff and passing vessels. Between 2008 and 2010, one short-term pollution incident was recorded (5 May 2009), attributed to weather conditions (storm). Short-term pollution risk is low with an estimated frequency of once during the swimming season and duration of 1–2 days.
