Agia Varvara is a sandy beach of modest width located in the Limassol district of Cyprus. The beach is 1,400 meters long with an average water depth of 1 meter and maximum depth of 3 meters. Intense residential development and related leisure and catering services line the beach, with most of the beach area paved. The beach is recognized as a Blue Flag beach and can accommodate a maximum of 1,000 daily swimmers.

Water

Coastal marine water body named Limassol East (code: CY_14-C2). Sandy shoreline with pebbles in places. Rocky substrate without vegetation. Average water depth is 1 meter; maximum depth is 3 meters. Semi-natural coastal zone with stabilizing breakwaters constructed in the central and eastern sections to retain beach material and prevent erosion from marine currents and winter waves.

Location

Located in the Amathos area within the Municipality of Agio Tycho, Limassol district, Cyprus. Coordinates: 33.1522°E, 34.7128°N (ETRS89). The settlement of Agio Tycho is approximately 1.6 kilometers from the beach.

Facilities

Lifeguards and rescue equipment available from 10:00 to 17:00 during summer. Blue Flag designation. Summer amenities include loungers and umbrellas in the central section. Waste collection bins throughout the beach length. Toilets available only in private café facilities. Showers not mentioned. No specific disabled access mentioned.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The coastal water body is in good ecological condition. One short-term pollution incident was recorded on 5 May 2009, attributed to storm conditions. Moderate risk level exists for macroalgae and phytoplankton eutrophication development.
