Vouppe is a sandy beach located in the Limassol district of Cyprus, bounded by two stone breakwaters at its eastern and western ends, with a central breakwater dividing it into two sections. The beach is 300 metres long with an average depth of 1 metre and maximum depth of 3 metres. Extensive hotel developments and tourist infrastructure are present in the hinterland, with ornamental plantings of palms, eucalyptus, and other decorative trees along a seaside promenade. The beach has held Blue Flag status and accommodates a maximum of 1,800 swimmers daily.

Water

Coastal Mediterranean water body designated as Lemesos Aniola (East Limassol). Sandy seabed with sandy grain composition. Beach length: 300 metres. Average water depth: 1 metre. Maximum water depth: 3 metres. No vegetation observed on the seabed substrate.

Location

Vouppe is situated in the Community of Agio Tychona, Limassol District, Cyprus. Coordinates: 33.1300°E, 34.7082°N (ETRS89). The monitoring point is located where the main volume of swimmers congregates.

Facilities

Public facilities available. Toilets can be accessed through hotel facilities or public installations. Waste collection bins distributed along the entire beach length, maintained by the Agio Tychona Community Council. Summer services include sun loungers and umbrellas. Lifeguards and lifesaving equipment available from 10:00 to 17:00. Blue Flag designation. Water sports activities permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data since Cyprus's EU accession in 2004. The coastal body of water is in good ecological condition. One isolated pollution incident was recorded during the 2004 swimming season caused by a passing vessel. Moderate risk of macroalgal and phytoplankton eutrophication development is estimated.

Risks

Recorded short-term pollution incidents: one event from 2008–2010 (5 May 2009) attributed to weather conditions (storm). Low risk of short-term pollution occurrence. Possible sources: malfunction of sewage systems in coastal developments, storm water runoff, and passing vessels. Typical frequency: once per swimming season. Duration: 1–2 days. Moderate risk of macroalgal and phytoplankton development.
