Lundø Øst Strand is a bathing beach located on the eastern side of the Lundø peninsula in the western part of Lovns Bredning. The beach is approximately 200 meters long with widths varying between 2–5 meters, composed of mixed sand and gravel. The seabed is stony with shells and scattered vegetation of seaweed and eelgrass. The beach is shallow, with 200–300 meters distance from the shoreline to 2 meters depth. The bathing water is classified as excellent, the highest classification for bathing water quality.

Water

Brackish water body (saltwater) in Lovns Bredning. Water temperature varies between 10 °C and 22 °C during the bathing season. The beach is shallow with 200–300 meters distance from the shoreline to 2 meters depth.

Location

The beach is located at Jelsevej near Lundø Camping. GPS orientation point: Lundø Strand, Jelsevej 255, 7840 Højslev. Parking is available at the camping site.

Facilities

Bathing pier, boat pier, playground, camping site with kiosk and café, tables and benches, information sign indicating hiking routes in the landscape.

Season

Dogs must be kept on a leash on the beach from 1 April to 30 September.

Water Quality

Bathing water classified as excellent quality based on E. coli and enterococci data from 2016–2019. Analysis of bathing water data from the past 5 years shows very stable conditions and low bacterial levels.

Risks

High risk of large amounts of seaweed (such as sea lettuce) washing ashore. Significant risk of mass blooms of microscopic algae species during bathing season. Low risk of fecal contamination, blue-green algae, oxygen depletion, chemical pollution, and Pacific oysters. Allergens (pollen) may discolor water yellow in spring/early summer but pose low risk.
