Skanse Tværvej is a bathing spot located in the eastern part of Rørvig, facing Skansehagebugt. It features a fine sandy beach approximately 200 meters long and 10 meters wide. The water is brackish, a mixture of salt and fresh water. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality based on data from 2016–2019.

Water

Brackish water (mixture of salt and fresh water) in Skansehagebugt. At the sampling point: 4 meters to 0.5 meters depth, 9 meters to 1 meter depth, and 50 meters to 2 meters depth. Current direction predominantly from the west.

Location

Eastern part of Rørvig, accessed via Skansehagevej. Parking available at number 69 on the opposite side of the road, equipped with toilets and waste bins.

Water Quality

Water classified as excellent quality (Udmærket kvalitet) according to Directive 2006/7/EC, based on 2016–2019 data. One exceedance recorded in 2011, the only one in the preceding eight years. Risk of cyanobacteria, phytoplankton, and macroalgae growth is low.

Risks

Approximately 1 kilometer southwest of the bathing spot, rainwater, wastewater, and water from a combined sewer system discharge, with sewage discharge during heavy rainfall. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur. Bathing is discouraged if water is unclear and feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Children should not play or bathe near washed-up algae.
