Lyngvig Fyr is a 400-meter-long beach located in Hvide Sande, Denmark, facing the North Sea west of the Lyngvig Lighthouse. The beach consists of fine sand with small stones scattered evenly across it, and the seabed offshore also comprises fine sand. The beach is between 60 and 120 meters wide and is set within the characteristic North Sea environment with high dunes and sandy beaches. Water depth increases abruptly offshore and is highly variable due to tidal and weather conditions.

Water

The water is classified as saltwater in the North Sea. The beach is 400 meters long and between 60 and 120 meters wide. Water depth increases abruptly offshore and varies significantly due to tidal and current changes. Current direction is primarily from north or south.

Location

The beach is located in Hvide Sande, accessible via Holmsland Klitvej, which leads to a large parking area with associated toilet facilities near the lighthouse.

Season

1 June to 1 September. Water quality is routinely monitored during this period. Classification is reviewed each year before the start of the swimming season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on routine sampling of E. coli and enterococci bacteria over a four-year period. Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality has identified no known sources of fecal pollution in the area that could cause deteriorated water quality at the beach.

Risks

Risk of rip currents, which are common but dangerous natural phenomena where waves break, creating sudden offshore currents in troughs perpendicular to the waves. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large seaweed (macroalgae) accumulation. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur.
