Manarola Palaedo is a short stretch of high, rocky coastline terminating near Punta Ruonfiglio in the Cinque Terre marine protected area. The bathing area has an extension of 0.371 hectares. It is classified as an excellent bathing water. The Ligurian Sea is characterised by oligotrophic conditions that prevent cyanobacterial blooms, and there have been no cases of potentially toxic algal strains.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). No sewage treatment plants, coastal outfalls, or Imhoff tanks are present in the area. The water body is part of the Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area.

Risks

A modelling approach for characterising short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations is under development. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded. Cyanobacterial blooms do not occur due to oligotrophic conditions.
