Snekkersten Strand is a sandy beach approximately 410 metres long and 20–40 metres wide located along Strandvejen in Snekkersten. The water is classified as Excellent quality based on measurements from the four most recent seasons. The beach features weak reef formation with no strong currents in shallow water, reaching a depth of approximately 2 metres about 100 metres from the shore.

Water

Sandy beach with brackish water (1–2% salinity). Dominantly northward-flowing currents. Depth approximately 2 metres at 100 metres offshore. Weak reef formation present. Sandy bottom.

Location

Snekkersten, along Strandvejen. Parking available along Strandvejen and at a car park near Snekkersten Harbour. Accessible by Kystbanen (coastal train) to Snekkersten Station and by Bus 388.

Facilities

Lifeguards present 22 June – 4 August, 10:00–18:00, and during school summer holidays 10:00–18:00. Bathing jetty. Accessible bathing wheelchair available for loan from lifeguards daily 10:00–18:00 until 8 August. Life-saving equipment. Bus stop. Ice cream. Public toilet 200 metres south of beach. Tables and benches. Litter bins with waste separation. Dogs on leads permitted 1 April – 30 September.

Lifeguard supervision 22 June – 4 August (10:00–18:00) and during school summer holidays.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent. Station 301 monitored with 10 samples collected in 2024. Rare cyanobacteria blooms possible during particular current directions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Phytoplankton blooms can occur. Seaweed areas present approximately 100 metres from shore.

Risks

Sewage overflow risk south of the kayak club during heavy rain, causing short-term water contamination lasting up to 2 days after the event. Cyanobacteria blooms can occur in rare cases under specific conditions.
