Mixoudia 2 is a sandy beach with some rocky sections and a nearly straight shoreline located east of Amathous Beach and west of Mixoudia 1 Beach in Limassol, Cyprus. Three small rock groins of approximately 20 meters have been constructed perpendicular to the shoreline. The beach is highly modified with four submerged rock breakwaters constructed about 150 meters offshore and parallel to the coastline to protect against wave action and sand erosion. The seabed material is sandy with uniform grain composition.

Water

Coastal water body named Limassol East. Beach length is 390 meters. Average water depth is 1.5 meters. Maximum water depth is 3 meters. The seabed consists of sandy material with uniform grain composition.

Location

Located in Limassol District, Germasogeia Municipality, Cyprus. The beach lies along Limassol Avenue with numerous residential buildings, hotels, and tourism infrastructure on both sides of the road.

Facilities

Trash collection bins are present on the beach, maintained by Germasogeia Municipality. No public facilities for service to the public are available. A small anchorage for recreational boats exists to the west of the beach. Maximum daily bather capacity is 750 people.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The coastal body to which this bathing water belongs is in good ecological status. Monitoring has been conducted for many years, with reports prepared according to Directive 76/160/EEC since Cyprus joined the European Union in 2004.

Risks

Moderate degree of risk for macroalgae and phytoplankton development based on pollution sources in the terrestrial and marine zones of influence. One short-term pollution incident was recorded between 2008 and 2010 on 5 May 2009, attributed to weather conditions (storm). Risk of short-term pollution is small, occurring approximately once during the bathing season with duration of 1–2 days. Possible sources include storm runoff and passing vessels.
