Nidda Stausee

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Nidda-Stausee is a 42.4-hectare reservoir in the Vogelsberg region at 225 metres elevation, surrounded by forests and meadows. Built in 1970 for flood protection, it lies approximately 65 kilometres from Frankfurt along the B455 south of Schotten. The lake has a maximum depth of 22.1 metres and mean depth of 8.9 metres. It receives water from the Nidda river and Läunsbach stream, and is used for camping, fishing, diving, windsurfing, and sailing in addition to bathing.
