Denmark Coastal 1 - Excellent

Klinteparken is a 250-meter-long beach located west of Vordingborg along Storstrømmen, the waterway between South Zealand and Lolland-Falster. The beach consists of fine sand with small to medium-sized stones, becoming covered with medium-sized stones near the water's edge. The beach is 10 meters wide and offers a child-friendly environment with gradually deepening water. The area includes benches, picnic facilities, sunbathing space, and a large park with recreational amenities.

Water

Storstrømmen, a brackish water body between South Zealand and Lolland-Falster. Water depth increases gradually from shore, remaining under 2 meters at 300 meters from coast. Current direction is variable with no primary flow direction.

Location

West of Vordingborg along Storstrømmen. Access via Klintevænget, Slåenvænget, or Kystvejen, each leading to separate parking areas.

Facilities

Parking areas, toilets, drinking water, first aid kit, rescue ring, warning sign for degraded water quality, blue flag, waste bin, information board.

Season

1 June – 1 September (bathing season during which routine water quality monitoring is conducted).

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality. Based on analysis of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) over the last 4 years, the beach meets required standards. Routine monitoring occurs during the bathing season (1 June – 1 September). The 2016 classification was Excellent.

Risks

A stormwater outlet 350 meters south of the beach poses risk of faecal bacteria contamination during heavy rain. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) wash-up at water's edge. Glass shards and litter can occur. Very low risk of chemical contamination (oil spills). Sudden pollution from accidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, and sewage pipes is possible.
