Rungsted Badestrand is a public beach on the south side of Rungsted Harbour. Bathing takes place from bathing piers rather than directly from the narrow sandy beach. The seabed is sandy with some stony areas, featuring shallow water with a depth of approximately 2 metres reached about 100 metres from the shore. Current conditions are minimal or still.

Location

Rungsted Harbour, south side. Bus 388 serves the area via Rungsted Strandvej. Three disabled parking spaces are available near the bathing pier with level-free access to the pier and bathing steps.

Facilities

Toilets including a disabled toilet located in the western part of the beach near the kayak club. A wide disabled-friendly bathing step is installed in summer. Three disabled parking spaces with level-free access to the beach promenade leading to the bathing pier and steps.

Season

June to August

Water Quality

At least 10 water quality samples are taken during the bathing season (June to August). Water quality information is available via the bathing water model at badevand.dk and as a smartphone app. Risk of blue-green algae exists when water temperature remains high (approximately 20°C) for extended periods.

Risks

Seismic sewage overflow from coastal sewers is possible during heavy rainfall. Large accumulations of seaweed can gather in the inner bay due to currents at times. Blue-green algae risk exists when water temperature is high (approximately 20°C).
