Øresund Struckmannparken

Struckmannparken beach is a narrow sandy beach stretching 400 metres along Øresund, backed by a small park with manicured grassland and mature trees. The beach offers scenic views from the park's highest point and functions as a popular picnic and swimming area. Water quality is classified as excellent based on 2020–2023 data. The seabed consists of sand and stones with large rocks along the waterline.

Water

Saltwater body in Øresund. The beach is 400 metres long and 20 metres wide. Water is shallow near the shore. The seabed comprises sand and stones. Coastal currents are generally weak and flow in the direction of the wind. Water depth is influenced by wind and current.

Location

The beach is located below Struckmannparken at Skodsborg Strandvej, between Vedbæk to the north and Skodsborg to the south. Toilets are available at Struckmannparken. The area is not particularly wheelchair-accessible.

Toilets available at Struckmannparken. No lifeguards during normal operations. Limited wheelchair accessibility.

Season

Water quality is monitored during the bathing season. In 2024, water samples are taken at least 6 times during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on data from 2020–2023. A stormwater outlet (UJ19000) is located immediately south of the beach. Combined sewer overflows (UJ22000 and UJ18000) are present 800 metres south and 600 metres north respectively. Heavy rainfall can cause fecal contamination from these overflows, typically lasting no more than 3 days. Cyanobacteria blooms are rare at Øresund.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms, which can cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) on the beach. Heavy rainfall can cause fecal pollution from stormwater and sewer overflows. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
